Endocrinology and diabetes is mainly an outpatient specialty but a number of patients require hospital admission for complex investigations or the management of complications. Patients usually have chronic conditions and management is holistic and long term often in a multidisciplinary team fashion Increasingly, hospital-based specialists manage diabetes patients jointly with generations in primary care and training has been adjusted to reflect this. Diabetes mellitus is commonly known as diabetes, is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period. Acute complications can include diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic state, or death. Indications of high blood sugar include frequent urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger.
